The Chocolate Hills of Bohol is located at the towns of Sagbayan, Batuan, Carmen, Bilar, Sierra Bullones and Valencia.

The Chocolate Hills are a geological formation in the province of Bohol of some 1,776 hills, spread over an area of more than 50 square kilometres or more, and vary in size from 30 meters to 120 meters in height. The hills are not huge , the highest one is more or less 120 meters in height. Though the hills vary in size, it seems like they are almost symmetrical in shape when looking at these from a far area.
They are wholly covered with green grass that will turn brown during the dry season, hence the Chocolate Hills name surfaced. The 1,776 hills though are found in Sagbayan, Batuan and Carmen, but Carmen has the most uniform cone-shaped hills. They retain a uniform look at all times, no trees or clumps of shrubs will grow on them.

The best time to Visit Chocolate hills is when it turns to brown color symbolizing the Chocolate color. And this happens on the dry season of the Philippines in the month November to May. But if you are a nature lovers you would like to see it covered with green scenery so its best for you to Visit the months of June to October.
The Chocolate Hills can be visited anytime of the year as they will be just as spectacular in every season.
Bohol’s Chocolate Hills can be best view in these two areas, the viewing deck of the Chocolate Hills Complex in Carmen Bohol and at the Sagbayan Peak. Chocolate Hill Complex viewing deck gives you a 360° view of the hills “as far as the your eyes can see it. The viewing deck is accessible by stairs with a stopover huts around 3 huts, available before reaching the top. This allow us to take some pictures at the same time, provides a rest area for those on a middle age traveler.
At the base of the hills, the flatland surrounds the hills, are given to rice and corn farming and its resulted to a beautiful green backdrop for the Chocolate Hills.
How to Get There
There are Buses bound for Carmen town or Sagbayan are available at the Dao Terminal in Tagbilaran City. Just inform the driver to drop you off at the junctions leading to the to the Chocolate Hills. From the junction you can just walk along the winding uphill road leading to the Chocolate Hills.
Also a Van and Cars are available and the most common means of transportation, especially when you are in a group. With this kind of transportation you can experience the convenience and comfort while traveling and it give you more place to visit along the way. A van of 14 seat capacity is available at the rate of 2,500 a day with a driver and a gasoline included in the package. For a Car with 4 passengers allowed the rate is P 2,000.00 included the gasoline as well as the driver.
