Moalboal is a coastal town located in the South West of Cebu. It is a popular and favorite getaway island in the central Visayas of the Philippines, for its white sand and diving spots activities. It is a 4th class municipality in the province of Cebu and has a population of 31/130 as of year 2015. Moalboal is just 89 kilo meters from Cebu City
It’s bordered to the west by the Tañon Strait. Negros Island, on the east is Argao Town, South border is town of Badian and the north border is the town Alcantara.
It is known to be a tourist destination in the central visayas for its unspoiled fine sand and rich underwater life.
There are two main areas of Moalboal. One is the coastal area which house most of the resorts, water activities and dive shops on the oceanfront (Panagsama Beach). Most Tourist stays in the Panagsama Beach. Further to its north in Saavedra is the White Beach or known as the Basdaku. Basdaku is a two kilo meter fine white sand beach. This beach is most visited by locals.
Pescador Island, a tourist attraction, is part of the municipality. It is just 3 kilo meters off the coast. Pescador Island, is the most popular dive spot in the Philippines . It is ideal for scuba diving, snorkeling and other underwater activities. Pescador Island is also known as the sanctuary for sea turtles as well as the Sardines Run.
The other main area is known as the highway, where we can find the bus Terminal, restaurants, and shopping center. This highway part is just a 10 minutes travel to the coastal area and just 3 kilo meter away from the coastal part.
How to get There
The starting point of your travel is Cebu City. Moalboal can be reached by Bus or by Van. It’s only a three hours drive from Cebu South Bus Terminal, by public bus, and a two hours travel time by Van. Estimated Fare of non air-con bus is 116 while the air-con bus fare is P127.
Meanwhile, vans are stationed in Cebu South V-hire Terminal in Junquera Street near University of San Carlos. Travel time is estimated at two hours, and the fare is P100.
