Bantayan Island is located in the Visayan Sea, Philippines. It is situated to the west of the northern end of Cebu island, across the Tañon Strait. According to the 2015 census, it has a population of 120,447.

The island has  three municipalities namely the Bantayan, Madridejos and the Santa Fe. Santa Fe is the center of Tourism of the Island and known for its wide stretch  of fine and white beaches. and located on the southeastern portion of the Island. In the northern portion is the Madridejos known as the fishing village and rich in history  and the last  the Bantayan Island is on the central part of the island

Bantayan Island’s biggest asset is it’s the white fine beach.The sand can be compared with the sands of Boracay.

Getting There

You must start your travel to Bantayan at the Cebu North Bus Terminal, Take the Ceres liner with the route for Hagnaya Port. Estimated Fare is Php 200 and the time travel is around 4 hours.

When in Hagnaya Port board the Super Shuttle Ferry of the Island Shipping that is bound for Santa Fe Port. Travel time is one hour. The first trip of the Ferry is at 3am and the last trip is at 5:00 pm

At the Santa Fe Port you can ride a  tricycle that will bring you to your hotel or if you have arranged a pick up with your hotel you just wait in here.Estimated fare of the tricycle is P20/pax.

Things to do while  in  Bantayan Island

• Skydiving –  Bantayan Island is home to Skydive Cebu, one of the few skydiving establishments in the Philippines.
• Strolling around the island – Stroll Virgin Island and Hilantagaan Island. Also visit Paradise Beach, a secluded stretch in Santa Fe. If you want to get away from the crowd, this is where you should run to. Open from 9am-5pm. Entrance Fee: P50. There are a few other beaches in Santa Fe that you might want to check out: Alice Beach, Sugar Beach, and Maricaban Beach.

• Massage on the  beach: Get a massage while resting in the beach. There is so many can be seen in the Island.
• St. Peter and Paul Church. The oldest parish church in Visayas and Mindanao. This is built on 1580.
• Ogtong Cave, a small cave found in  a natural pool located within Sante Fe Beach Club Resort.  You can only take a dip here as this is too small to swim with.
•  Fort in Kota Park in Madrilejos. Originally a “fort,”build by the Spaniards on 1790 and eventually develop into Park at present.
• Kota Beach and Sandbar, This is something that you shouldn’t miss, a favorite among beach bums. Which can get crowded during in summer,
• Virgin Island Bantayan – Visit  this island when you are in Bantayan. It has a clear crystal water, coastal boardwalk and cliff diving. One of the most beautiful places not to be missed when visiting Bantayan. This is located in the east coast of Bantayan and just 30 minute boat ride from the Kota Beach.
• Obo-ob Mangrove Eco Park. –  A mangrove forest that can be explore by foot, kayak, and by boat. You have an option to explore by foot on the bamboo bridge boardwalk which will take you around if you’re up for a relaxing stroll or to use a boat Kayaks that are for rent for P150, and small boats for P350.
