LEGAZPI CITY (Chasing Mt.Mayon)
We arrived in Legazpi airport at night since our flight was delayed for an hour. And sad to say we didn’t witness the image of Mt. Mayon in the first day of our visit. Outside the airport there are lot of mode of transportation you can choose either van transfer from airport to your hotel or you can ride motorcycle for cheapest price. From airport to our hostel chosen it’s just cost P100.00 for the four us. We stayed at Mayon Backpacker’s Hostel it takes maximum 15mins away from airport. They offered cheapest accommodation; we paid only 800php each for 4D&3N since they had promo that time.
The first night we decided to roam around their streets and we end up having our dinner at the Hepa Street where we witnessed bunch of street foods which attracts our hungry souls. There’s a lot of finger foods you can choose from “kwek-kwek”,tempura,from smooky BBQ to chicken skin, batchoy and so on. But what attracts our savoury was their sisig meal. One must try it.
In the next day our first list in the itinerary was to experience the ATV Experience we paid 1,500php each and we chose the Green Lava Trail which it took 1-2hrs drive. It’s quite expensive but the experience was superb and Lit since it was really adventurous feeling riding along the river and driving along to the rocky ways uphill. Before you start the trail you will have a 10mins briefing orientation and drive testing also for 10mins also assisted by their guides. The 3 signals you need to remember: first maintain one lane in driving, slowdown the engine and stop. You need to wear very comfortable clothes and bring mask and sunglasses since there are parts of the ride where it is dusty.
Our second stop supposed to be was the Cagsawa Ruins but sad to say the Mt.Mayon didn’t show up on us with it’s perfectly cone so we decided to have lunch first before we proceed our next stop. And we planned to go back tomorrow morning.
So we proceed after to Sumlang Lake it has a great view of Mt. MAYON but it didn’t show up again. We tried their lake cruising’ for 30mins which cost 50 pesos per head. It’s a refreshing feeling while on the raft. They have this great vibe for your instagrammable thingy for you to take a post. And if you are planning to eat there, they have restaurant available inside which has a nice ambiance to dine. We haven’t tried their resto since we still have a next spot to visit.
The fifth spot we visited on this day was the historic Daraga Church we still hoping to witness the perfectly cone Mt.Mayon but sad to say on that day we haven’t witnessed since it was so cloudy day that was our last chance of the day. The church was located at the center of the town. It’s kinda’ uphill place to go and you can see an overlooking view of the Mt.Mayon. At the church we bought some of their delicacies the ‘pili nuts’ they offered cheap price for the items they sold.
Since we were tired already chasing and waiting for the Mt. Mayon to show up, we then decided to go to their one of the famous restaurant, the Colonial Grill. We ordered and tried their Sili Ice Cream with the 2nd level of spiciness, for the first taste you will not feel the spiciness it will just come after 3 to 5 seconds.
At night after we took a rest in our hostel we went to their boulevard and we had our dinner there. It’s a good place to chill and run if you want to have a jogging. It was a wrong decision to visit there at night since it had a great scenery when its day time. But still we have good shots at their boulevard.
On the second day we visited early at the Cagsawa Ruins and finaaaaaaallyy we witnessed the perfectly cone of the famous magayon the Mt.Mayon we were so excited and overwhelmed that time since we’ve been waiting for it yesterday.
Bonus tip: if you want to experience a good vibe of music and just chill, the Terminal 2 Food Park is the perfect spot to visit.
